About this tool
Arabic text copied from the web, PDFs or religious and educational sources carries diacritics, decorative tatweel, several forms of alef and hamza, and invisible direction marks. People never type these consistently, so search, matching and deduplication quietly fail. This cleaner normalizes the text with options you control, so you can keep what matters for your use and strip the rest.

Frequently asked questions
Will unifying hamza change the meaning of words?
It can in rare cases, which is why it is off by default. For search and matching it is almost always what you want; for published text, keep the original spelling.
What is tatweel?
Tatweel (ـ) is a stretching character used to lengthen words visually. It has no linguistic meaning, but it breaks search because the stretched word no longer matches the normal one.
What hidden characters does it remove?
Zero-width spaces and joiners, left-to-right and right-to-left marks, directional embeddings and overrides, and byte order marks. They are invisible but break comparison and layout.
