About this tool
Base64 turns bytes into plain ASCII text so they can travel safely through systems that only accept text: JSON payloads, email, data URLs, HTTP headers and config files. This tool encodes and decodes Base64 using UTF-8 first, which is the step many online encoders skip — and why they break on Arabic, accented letters and emoji.

Frequently asked questions
Is Base64 encryption?
No. Base64 is an encoding, not encryption. Anyone can decode it instantly, so never use it to hide passwords or sensitive data.
Why do other Base64 tools break Arabic text?
The browser's built-in btoa function only accepts single-byte characters. Arabic letters take two bytes in UTF-8, so passing them directly throws an error or corrupts them. This tool converts the text to UTF-8 bytes first, so every language works.
What is URL-safe Base64?
Standard Base64 uses + and /, which have special meanings in URLs. URL-safe Base64 replaces them with - and _ and drops the trailing = padding. JWTs use this variant. The decoder here accepts both forms automatically.
Is my data sent to a server?
No. Encoding and decoding happen entirely in your browser. You can disconnect from the internet and the tool keeps working.
